CVS “Yap Yap”
aka “The Singing Dog”
A singing dog in a moving car. Why not? This spot for CVS was a blast. Shooting on location in LA, "Yap Yap" was a textbook case of how preparation and a great crew make all the difference. Shooting a spot with a singing dog really means making sure that you have everything you need to make the dog sing in post. We went through an extensive previs and animatc phase to ensure that we got what we needed and didn't waste time on things that we were never going to use.
Principle photography took a full day, and we grabbed an element of the dog wagging her tail on greenscreen the following morning. There were a couple of times when the dog wouldn't perform as trained - times when she would lay down in the car instead of sitting up. It was in these situations that our VFX expertise came in very handy. Rather than waste time with take after take hoping that the dog would do what we need, we would shift gears and grab the bits and pieces that we would need to make the shot work in post
